Break out your swimsuit, because it’s time for a chilly dip into the Potomac with several hundred of the coolest Special Olympics supporters in Northern VA! We’ve got live bands, prizes and a costume contest for the fanciest plungers!

Join us for the Northern VA Polar Plunge® Festival, where we’ll be strutting our stuff on the sand and taking an icy dip into the Potomac – and all for a great cause! Bring your friends and family out for live music and chance to claim the title as the best-dressed plunger!
It's $100 to Plunge, but the top 5 teams that raise the most money by midnight before the Plunge are entered into a drawing for a chance to win 4 free airline vouchers to anywhere in the United States. So, if you like to travel, start raising for a chance to win! Transportation provided by United Airlines; restrictions apply.
- 10 am — Registration/check-in
- 10-4 pm — Live music & cool door prizes!
- 2 pm — Costume contest
- 3 pm — Official plunge start time
There is no parking at the event, so parking and free shuttles are available at John Paul the Great High School for all plungers (17700 Dominican Drive, Dumfries). Overflow parking also will be available at Covington-Harper Elementary School, 2500 River Heritage Blvd. in Dumfries.
