To us you’re a superhero, even if you scream like a little girl. Since its inception 17 years ago, more than 26,000 plungers have raised more than $4.7 million for Special Olympics Virginia. When you take the plunge, you’ll be helping us provide year-round training and athletic competition to nearly 9,500 athletes of all ages. Children and adults with intellectual disabilities who participate in Special Olympics develop improved physical fitness and motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image.
Don’t have what it takes? Come watch! If taking an icy dip isn’t for you, then come be a fan of more than 3,200 others as they plunge into the Atlantic. The Polar Plunge® Winter Festival is open to the public and also features musical entertainment, food, the Boogie Down the Boardwalk Costume Parade and contest, ice and sand sculptures, vendor displays, children’s activities and more.
There is no fee to view the Plunge, but a $5 donation is required to access the heated tent and festival area on the beach. For more, check out the
Polar Plunge event schedule.
