Costume Contest

Whether you dig up your favorite Halloween costume or get creative and fashion your own Superhero outfit, don't miss the Polar Plunge costume contest!  Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume in 4 categories: Male, Female, Youth and Group. To enter the contest, be sure to register under the Main Tent by 1 p.m. Contest winners will be announced at 1:15 p.m. (also under the Main Tent).

If you do dress up, don't forget to join us for the Boogie Down the Boardwalk Costume Parade. The parade is open to everyone; participants should meet at 6th Street at noon.

Rules: Register to participate in any of Special Olympics Virginia’s four Polar Plunges (www.firstgiving.com/polarplungeva) or the Plunge 5K and raise $100 online. Winners will be eligible to win one (1) $100 Finish Line gift card, one (1) $100 iTunes gift card, one (1) Amazon Fire Tablet and two (2) free Polar Plunge registration cards (good at any of the four Virginia Plunges). Winners will be notified by e-mail and will be given 30 days to claim their prize. Only one prize per person. Winners will be drawn based on the below schedule. Odds of winning will depend on the total number of people signed up to plunge. No purchase necessary.

Other Prizes

Prizes also are awarded to the individual Plunger who raises the most money. Additionally, all Plunge teams are placed in divisions based on size; within each division, a prize is awarded for the most money raised. The team divisions are as follows:

  • Division 1: 40+ Plungers
  • Division 2: 30-39 Plungers
  • Division 3: 20-29 Plungers
  • Division 4: 10-19 Plungers
  • Law Enforcement Teams
