CARPE FREEZUM at the coolest event of the year!

The Polar Plunge® Winter Festival is Special Olympics Virginia’s largest fundraiser, attracting more than 10,000 people to an otherwise deserted beachfront in February. Individuals and teams, alongside our athletes and thousands of community members, experience heartwarming and bone chilling extremes as they take the plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean in the height of winter! Anyone can participate; those under 18 must have a parent or guardian signature.

Other crowd favorites include the Boogie Down the Boardwalk Costume Parade and contest, musical entertainment, a gigantic sand sculpture, a Friday Night Plunge Party, Pee Wee Plunge (for kids 10 and under), a Saturday morning 5K, a 20th Anniversary Saturday Night Beach Bash, as well as vendor displays and giveaways.

Cool Prizes for Plungers

For just $100 in pledges – the cost to Plunge – Plungers automatically get the official Polar Plunge® Winter Festival long sleeve T-shirt and bragging rights over everyone who just couldn't bear it! Plus, the more money you raise, the more cool stuff you can get – like essential Plunge gear or a one-night hotel voucher for the weekend of the event.

Plungers can create their own Plunge Web Page for friends, family and coworkers to visit and donate online. It’s quick and easy through firstgiving.

Plungers must raise a minimum of $100 to Plunge, but the more money you raise, the more opportunities you are creating for our athletes to experience the life-changing benefits of participating in Special Olympics — all at no cost to themselves or their families.
